Emma Smith, "The Showroom" curator, visits Riga

From 1st to 5th of September, by kim? invitation and with a support of airBaltic airlines, Emma Smith, curator of "The Showroom" gallery is visiting Riga.

Emma Smith is art curator of „The Showroom” gallery, and delivers „The Communal Knowledge programme”. Apart from all the duties in "The Showroom" gallery and its projects, Emma Smith is also one of the „Delta Arts” board members. „Delta Arts” is a non-profit organization, that supports artist professional development through international exchange; for this work, Emma Smith was recently awarded a Special Commendation by the British Council at the UK Visual Arts Entrepreneur Awards.
Emma Smith also works internationally as an artist; she has recently been working in Mauritius, China and India with forthcoming projects in Beirut and Kenya, and is also an Artsadmin bursar and a resident in the ACME Fire Station Residency Scheme. Emma Smith is also a core member of the UK-wide artist group ‘Making a Living’, which supports artist representation and labour rights, and a member of council for engage (National Association for Gallery Education, UK).
During her visit, Emma Smith will get introduced with various art organizations in Riga; she will be attending the diverse program of the "White Night", and also the festival of contemporary art „Survival Kit 2”, both in kim? galleries and in all the city. The aim of the visit is to find artists and partners from various art organizations, who would be able to cooperate with "The Showroom" or become a part of other projects, represented and lead by Emma Smith.
