NEWS

Artist Zane Berziņa has been nominated for the final selection of the Purvītis Award for her work “E-Static Shadows” that was exhibited during “Transbiotics” at kim?. Bērziņa joins other artists who have been nominated for the works that have been exhibited at kim? – Mārtiņš Ratniks, Ģirts Korps, Kaspars Podnieks and Dace Džeriņa.

In August, new members of staff are joining kim? – the management of kim? will be undertaken by Zane Onckule, project management by Laura Adamoviča and texts will be written by Ingmar Balode. In autumn, Director Zane Čulkstēna will further her education in the USA, but Project Manager Anna Salmane – in England.

For the first time kim? in collaboration with the Riga International Film Forum “Arsenāls” will offer the film programme  “kim? Cinema”. During the forum from 21 until 25 September, kim? will organized five movie nights screening Latvian, French, Finnish, Chinese and Dutch experimental video films.

In August, two curators from the Tate Modern in London will visit kim?. Portfolio inspections, gallery and museum visits, as well as meetings with representatives of art organizations will grant Kasia Redzisz and Kathy Noble an insight into the Latvian contemporary art scene and, hopefully lay foundations for future cooperation.
