“Work “E-static Shadows” is a collaborative experimental project of two authors – Zane Bērziņa and Jackson Tan and it visualizes the electrostatic field of visitors in an interactive way. Both authors, exploring the phenomenon of static discharge, have created an interactive sculptural work, where the electrostatic field of the viewers creates a dynamic audio visual experience. The fabric which has silver threads woven into it, as well as transistors and light emitting diodes, responds to the charged hands of visitors and, the going off of diodes, creates an illusion of shadows, thus showing the invisible, but present electrostatic field. While stroking the serpentine shaped zigzag of the object and magically extinguishing luminous doting of the fabric, you realized that you have become part of the creation process. The aesthetics of the object has evolved from technological solutions and become an emotional and intellectual adventure,” explains Elita Ansone, art critic, Head of Collections and Scientific Research Department Arsenāls (2nd Half of the 20th - 21st Century) and a member of the Purvītis Award Committee.
Zane Bērziņa joins those artists who are nominated for the Purvītis Award for their works exhibited at the kim? galleries – Mārtiņš Ratniks, Ģirts Korps, Kaspars Podnieks and Dace Džeriņa.
